Siem Reap and the country’s capital Phnom Penh are also not to be missed. Meanwhile, the watery marvels of the iconic Mekong River and Tonle Sap offer a quieter pace of life among sleepy paddy fields and traditional floating villages where friendly saffron-robed monks walk barefoot in prayer. Combined with the fact that the people are courteous and resilient, and the food is a delicious fusion of French and Asian flavours, Cambodia makes a very alluring destination.
